The midwife behind the name
Hello, I’m Lois
I am a registered midwife here in Kent, and I started The Postnatal Midwife for a simple reason: the fortnight after birth is when mums need the most looking after, and it is exactly when most of the looking-after stops.
I have sat on enough sofas to know what those first weeks really look like. The questions that feel too small to bother anyone with. The recovery nobody asks about once the baby has been weighed. The 2am googling. I built this service to be the other thing — a familiar face who arrives with time to spare, checks everything properly, and stays long enough for you to remember the question you actually wanted to ask.
My care is warm, but it is not casual. I am on the same NMC register as every NHS midwife, fully insured, and additionally qualified in pregnancy and postnatal massage and in c-section scar therapy — so the hands-on recovery side of my work rests on real training, not enthusiasm.

what to expect
How I work
Everything starts with a message — WhatsApp, usually, because that is where tired mums already live. We talk about what you need, I am honest about what would genuinely help (and what would not), and nothing is booked until it feels right.
Visits happen in your home, at your pace, with your baby doing whatever your baby is doing. Massage and scar therapy also run from my treatment room at Therapy & Fitness in West Malling on Tuesdays and Saturdays. I work alongside NHS care or independently — your choice — and if anything I see ever needs your GP or hospital team, I will tell you straight away. That is what having a registered midwife means.
Come and be looked after
Whether you are pregnant and planning, or holding a baby right now and running on empty — I'd love to hear from you.
